I guess I shouldn't have judged Ohio, but I really didn't think it had as much to offer as it does. Granted, I'm seeing only a very small portion of it, but of what I see, I'm much impressed. The complete Lake Erie shoreline from Sandusky to Conneaut is spectacular. Lighthouses, fine beaches and beautiful homes line the entire Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail.
Ashtabula County has 19 covered bridges, and I journeyed to several of them. In between the bridges are farm houses, wineries and inviting parks and picnic areas. The surrounding counties, such as Erie county and Lake County also have much to offer. Milan, in Erie County, is home to Thomas Edison.
I've made two pages of this area: the shoreline towns and the countryside. This page covers the lakeshore towns. They start with Vermillion in the west and move eastward to Huron, Geneva-on-the-Lake and Conneaut.
I leave with a much greater appreciation of this middle America state.
